Terms of use for the “Echolon” beta

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This English version is a translation for your convenience. The German version (“Nutzungsbedingungen”) is legally binding.

1. Scope and beta status

These terms of use apply to the use of the browser game “Echolon: Stranded on Earth” (hereinafter “game”) at echolon.armbru.com. The provider is Achim Armbruster (address in the legal notice). The game is currently in an open beta phase. It is an ongoing development project. Use is completely free. There is no legal entitlement to constant availability of the servers, freedom from errors or permanent operation of the game.

The game rules supplement these terms of use and are equally binding.

2. Account registration and security

Registration takes place without an e-mail address (account name and password only).

Important: As no e-mail address is stored, there is no “forgot password” function by e-mail. Instead, every player receives a recovery code once at registration. Only with it can a forgotten password be reset; a new code can be created in the game at any time under Menu → Options → Recovery code. If a player loses both password and recovery code, access to the account is irrevocably lost – since we know no contact details, we cannot verify ownership and cannot restore access. Players are themselves responsible for keeping their password and recovery code secret.

An account is personal. It must not be passed on, shared or sold (see the game rules).

3. Game rules, anti-cheat and sanctions

Fair play together is essential. The following actions are strictly prohibited:

The complete rules are in the game rules. In the event of violations, we reserve the right to suspend accounts temporarily or permanently without warning and to remove unlawfully obtained advantages. The game shows the reason for a ban when you try to log in; you can appeal via the contact form.

4. Server wipes and data loss

Since the game is in its beta phase, technical resets (so-called “server wipes”) are planned and necessary. Game progress, inventories, levels and caught Starborn may be deleted completely at any time and without warning. There is no entitlement to the restoration of game states. Accounts (account name, password and recovery code) are generally kept during a wipe.

5. Liability

As the game is provided free of charge, liability for damage arising from the use of the game is limited to intent and gross negligence. We are not liable for data loss (e.g. due to server failures or wipes). Liability for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected.

6. Contact

We answer questions about these terms of use via the contact form or by e-mail (see legal notice). How we handle data is described in the privacy policy.
